Shore Power
Montrose Port: first Scottish port to provide shore power to energy sector
Montrose Port Authority is proud to introduce our cutting-edge shore power service Plug Montrose – revolutionising how vessels operate in port.
As the first port in Scotland to offer shore power to offshore energy supply vessels, we are leading the way for the Scottish ports sector in reducing emissions and promoting sustainable maritime practices.
Shore power is an alternative energy source that provides vessels with the option to shut down their engines and connect to the electricity grid while berthed in port.
This eliminates the need for ships to run their engines to power onboard systems during port stays and reduces harmful emissions, noise pollution and fuel consumption, contributing to a healthier environment for those onboard and our community.
- Available on Berths 1 and 2
